26 Feb Oscars Roundup

Hey folks, it’s the weekend and my Oscars countdown has officially begun!  I can’t wait to see what everyone will be wearing and which picture will win the much coveted prize.  I’ll be crossing my fingers for The Martian.  It was such a great movie and definitely worthy of the golden statue.  I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see.

In light of this week’s Oscar fever, the roundup is a tribute to some of the Academy’s past winners.  These pictures made their way to my top 5 of the past 2 decades.  Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to watch at least one of them this weekend.  Enjoy!

1.  (2013) 12 Years A Slave depicts the extraordinary true story of Solomon Northup.

2. (2006) An undercover cop and a mole in the police attempt to identify each other while infiltrating an Irish gang in South Boston.  A must watch!  The Departed

3. (2002) Murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago.

4. (2001) A Beautiful Mind is about a brilliant but asocial mathematician, John Nash, who accepts secret work in cryptography, and his life takes a turn for the nightmarish.

5. (2000) When a Roman general is betrayed and his family murdered by an emperor’s corrupt son, he comes to Rome as a Gladiator to seek revenge.
